Three things you need to do for Thursday
-
You need to read/watch the following. All are short, but they should help to explain RSS.
- “RSS in Plain English” The Common Craft Show
- “The Technology of Reading and Writing in a Digital
Space: Why RSS is crucial for a Blogging Classroom” David
Parry, Michigan Blogs for Learning
- “Web Feed” from WIkipedia -
Next, make sure you set up Google Reader (see the post below)
- Finally write a post to your blog recommending two other blogs. Make it something you are interested in, a couple of blogs you would want to continue to read throughout the semester. Also keep in mind that your fellow classmates will look at your recommendations as well, this is how your classmates will find interesting things to read.
Here is an example (note you should do two of these, and make sure that your post contains a link to the blog):
Doing Justice (the tagline is “Deconstruction is Justice) is a blog written by a “short, white, feminist law professor.” Here one can find sometimes humorous, sometimes biting, sometimes deprressing updates and opinions on a range of social justice issues (see this post on Modern Day Jim Crow). KC’s posts range from the short and to the point, to the long more nuanced analysis. Worth a read, even if you are not a lawyer type.
