Thursday March 28th we will be talking about Lessig ‘s Code 2.0. Focus your reading on the introduction (Chapters 1 & 2), Part III (9-13), and the responses (Chapters 16-18).

Thursday no Sunstein

There will be no class this Thursday, April 14th. We will talk about Sunstein’s Republic 2.0 next Thursday. I will email you my thoughts on your paper by Thursday. If you haven’t received an email from me by Thursday send me a note as perhpas the email was missent.

UPDATE: Take the class poll to decide what we should do about the cancelled class.

UPDATE 2: I have emailed everyone, feedback on paper proposals. If you have not received an email feel free to send me a note and I will resend it. (All feedback went to UTD email accounts.) If you have any questions on my comments please email me and I can explain more.

Tuesday-Your Work

There will be no class meeting on Tuesday. You do however need to continue/start work on your final project. I will have office hours all day on Tuesday for those who would like to meet and discuss their projects. I will be around from 11:30 until by graduate class at 7:00, so email me to set up a time to meet. Otherwise I will see you all on Thursday. On Thursday you need to bring a rough draft of your project to class for presenting.

For Tuesday’s class read the Hartley article, in the course reader. And, bonus points to anyone who can come up with an idea of what a book burning on the web would look like (this question courtesy of Robbie). Come up with something better than an even in Second Life or WoW, that’s to easy, and write a blog post about it.

Welcome to Intro. to Computer Mediated Communication (ATEC 3325) at UT Dallas. Rather simply this class is about how communication changes (or doesn’t change) when we move from analog to digital structures. Thus, it only makes sense to maintain an online component for this class. Here you will find schedule of readings, class assignments, updates, and information you might find useful.
