Political Rhetoric

Generally speaking I don’t use word/tag clouds that much. I realize they can reveal interesting word patterns or rhetorical choices, it’s just that this sort of textual analysis really isn’t my thing. One place I do find it useful however is in looking at political speeches. Most of these are so carefully crafted that utilizing a word cloud can reveal not the unconscious of the speech (what the author(s) were thinking) but actually demonstrate the conscious (the not so subliminal message being sent), word repetition being entirely intentional.

Thus I give you a word cloud of Clinton’s speech on 21st Century statecraft.
