More Devon Videos

David Parry bio photo By David Parry

The Balcony has another Devon video tutorial posted. This is the first in a series that is geared towards using Devon for research purposes. There is nothing much new in this first video, although it is still worth a look. (I had not realized that you could import the OPML format from MindMap to create a document structure—this is way useful.) What I appreciate about Devon is they have a real sense of how the application fits into workflow, and projects as a whole. This first video spends time setting this up, explaining some of the “pre-steps” that Devon doesn’t necessarily facilitate. And for this “application philosophy” alone the video is worth it. Actually I am waiting for the next steps when they cover the more “nuts and bolts” of using the application for academic purposes.

For PC users, Gideon added this comment recommending OneNote, and Academic Lifehacker has a rundown of other options.
