I am busy getting ready for MLA, and finishing the semester. For those of you who are interested I will be presenting on “Wikipedia: The University an the Open Archive” on Thursday at noon-1:15. You can see more information about this particular panel here as well as info about the other two Wikipedia focused papers. If you are interested in Wikipedia stop on by. I am going to make two claims about Wikipedia:
- Wikipedia in one sense is nothing particularly new. That is it fits within the history of the University the encyclopedia and the quest to collect all human knowledge in one place>
- In so much as Wikipedia is “free” it is antithetical to the ideology of the University
(Yes, I get that these two points contradict each other . . . but that’s sort of the point.) Also I am going to do a write-up on how I created all the slides for this presentation later—quick and easy with no PowerPoint. You can look for that after MLA.
