Academic Commons, a site I highly recommend reading or adding to your news feed (they focus on “Open Source Education”), has an article today about using audio commentary for written assignments. The piece, by Susan Sipple, makes a case for why her students find it more productive, as well as allowing her to be more thorough. Most importantly she mentions a few ways to get this done without hassle (although one of the ways involves using Microsoft Word—a bad practice as not all of your students would have this . . .) Worth a read if you feel overwhelmed by student papers and would like to figure out a new way to help students.
